Discover Wechi

Live in Curaçao, in the neighborhood of the future! A community where construction and development are designed with sustainability and the environment in mind. Where a wide variety of housing types are offered, with contemporary designs from different architects. Where great attention has been given to solid urban planning and infrastructure. Where shaded courtyards and streets with bike lanes and pedestrian areas connect the different parts of the neighborhood. Where there is plenty of space for sports, recreation, and nature. Where the safety of residents comes first, and children can play freely in playgrounds and play areas. Where the existing nature is responsibly integrated into the neighborhood. Where people of all ages can live, work, play, and meet. Where children can grow up in a safe, protected, and healthy environment under Curaçao’s wonderful sun. Wechi is green, livable, and safe! Green means, above all, that the neighborhood is filled with trees and plants. The walking and water management areas are the most important public green zones, providing plenty of natural water retention.

OUR VISION

Live in Curaçao, in the neighborhood of the future!
Wechi is green, livable, and safe!

GREEN

By “green,” we also mean sustainable, something that meets essential requirements. A “green neighborhood” is one that will still be considered a good and pleasant place to live for many years to come.

Sustainability also means thinking about durable materials, climate-conscious construction, and making use of natural conditions. But it’s not only about materials, balance in the community is key.

Integration is the foundation of a sustainable neighborhood. This means that different groups in the community can live together harmoniously. That is achieved by offering a wide range of housing types, varying in architecture and price range, and meeting the needs of both new and existing residents.

LIVABLE

A new neighborhood is more than just stacking bricks. Physical space alone does not guarantee a good living environment. It must provide spatial possibilities and have its own character that invites use. Ultimately, residents must feel at home and live comfortably.

Residents of Wechi should be able to move easily within their neighborhood on foot, by bike, skateboard, rollerblades, or other forms of slow traffic. Public spaces are pleasant, with plenty of shade, recreation areas, and abundant sports opportunities for all ages, as well as the possibility to work close to home. In the next phase of the project, all necessary facilities for a neighborhood of this scale will be developed, such as schools, supermarkets, and more.

SAFE

A neighborhood where our elderly can enjoy peace and our children can grow up safely and carefree. There is strong focus on safety in public spaces through smart design and mutual supervision. Think of childcare facilities, community meeting places, and bike/pedestrian paths inaccessible to cars.

The key to safety is a balanced mix of rules and responsible behavior.
